The global electronics industry is vast. Electronics is so ubiquitous in modern life that there are many opportunities for electronic engineering graduates to apply their expertise in other industry sectors. All aspects of human life have been revolutionized by electronics. The role of the electronics engineer is pivotal in realms ranging from the toy industry to consumer electronics, from household articles to space/satellite communication.
Electronics and Computer Science engineering covers subfields such as analog electronics, digital electronics, consumer electronics, embedded systems and power electronics. Electronics engineering deals with implementation of applications, principles and algorithms developed within many related fields, for example solid-state physics, radio engineering, telecommunications, control systems, signal processing, systems engineering, computer engineering, instrumentation engineering, electric power control, robotics, and many others.
A graduate in the Electronic field can apply for the post of an engineer with the state government, the central government and the public sector. Central services like Indian Engineering Service, Indian Telephone Industries, Civil Aviation Department, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited, Bharat Electronics Limited, Indian Railways, ISRO, DRDO and the Defence services offer exciting careers. Private sector opportunities exist in profusion, in the Semiconductor industry, VLSI design industry, Software industry including MNCs.
