Abstract               : Alternatives to the keyboard/mouse are necessary on hand-held computers. The next logical step would be to remove the need for any (dedicated) input space, as well as the need for any additional input device (stylus, mouse, etc.). This would allow inputting data by just executing bare-handed gestures in front of a web camera. In this paper, a fast gesture recognition scheme is proposed to be an interface for the human-machine interaction of systems. It is controlled using hand in place of any other method like buttons, joystick. Here one only needs to move hand to control the Robot. This work presents a technique for a human computer interface through hand gesture recognition that is able to recognize static and dynamic gestures from the American Sign Language hand alphabet.

The segmentation of gray scale image of hand gesture is performed using thresholding algorithm. A transmitting device is used in your hand with RF Transmitter and Accelerometer. This will transmit commands to robot so that it can do the required task like moving forward, reverse, turning left, right and stop. All these tasks are performed using hand gestures. Here the most important component is accelerometer. Accelerometer is a 3 axis acceleration measurement device with +-3g range. The robot and the gesture device are connected wirelessly via radio waves. The wireless communication enables the user to interact with the robot in a more friendly way.

Abstract               : Every year, in India many cities are   waterlogged and disaster management is late to arrive for its rectification. Real time physical surveillance for any disaster is a task which cannot be implemented practically but it is ideal in theoretical sense. The disaster management runs a series of checks on an affected area and then they send for help. This delay causes more loss than nature planned.

This project is designed to detect the level of liquid by using an ultrasonic module. This measures the range of liquid level by detecting the reflection coming off it. If the measure of the level rises above a set point, the GSM module automatically sends a SMS to disaster management and starts a motor to clear the logged water. Being contact-less the fear of electrodes corroding or a false reading is eliminated. A SMS and motor pumping in the right time can alert authorities sooner and also start the process before they arrive, thus handling the situation in an efficient manner. This method is faster than word of mouth news and relying on the human eye to judge the water level rising. The module will have a LCD which denotes the current level of water. The disaster management can operate the motor via SMS as well. A text can be used to turn ON or turn OFF the motor.

The collected water can be treated using UV and reused for applications like, cleaning public transport vehicles, watering plants, sanitation, etc.

Abstract               : Human safety is of prime importance. As the number of vehicles on the road is increasing rapidly, accidents have become a common phenomenon. Hence to avoid this, our project aims at designing a vehicle to vehicle communication system to avoid collision. The main motivation for vehicular communication systems is safety and elimination of deadly collisions. The main elements of the project include a transmitter end and a receiver end. The idea is basically to notify the receiving cars (adjacent or following) that there is a fault in the system or the cars in the vicinity are too close, that can result into an accident. The project will make use of wireless communication for the communication purpose and a controller for controlling various interfaced devices. Besides it will make use of sensors to notify the cars about the proximity in order to avoid collision. Thus without delay, the surrounding drivers will be notified about the problem, so that they become alert and take the necessary apt action.

Abstract               : Remote surveillance are becoming more important all around the world. Surveillance in areas like off-road, sand, snow, sloped surfaces, and in water using conventional robot is difficult. Robotic ball is an electronic project which is a prototype of amphibious spherical robotic vehicle systems. It can be used on autonomous driving in outdoor areas of science, industry and robot competitions.

The drive is produced using a motorized pendulum to propel the unit by changing its center of gravity. The unique Robotic Ball system can integrate advanced radio communication for command, control, and transmission via a variety of sensors including cameras, GPS, and audio. Robotic Ball is an all-terrain, high-performance system support, which is by its efficient deployment to serve a wide variety of applications.

 Abstract               : The aim of this project is to give an innovative concept to handle the bore well rescue operation. Nowadays child often falls down in the bore hole which is left uncovered and get trapped. It is difficult and also risky to rescue the trapped children to aid in such rescue operations. We propose a system of designing robots to the rescue of a child in a bore hole.

The robot structure consists of power supply, switch pad, gear motors, oxygen concentrator, camera and microcontroller. The condition of trapped child is captured with CCTV camera and monitored on a TV. A safety balloon is introduced in order to provide extra safety. Once the lifting rod reaches a safe position under the child, an air compressor is operated to pump air downwards inside the lifting rod. The bladder attached to the end of the lifting rod through an air tube that runs downwards inside the lifting rod. The bladder provides a safe seating to the child. When the child is secure, the lifting rod is contracted to its maximum position. The motor is then reversely operated so as to unclamp the system. Simultaneously, it is lifted out of the well using a chain or rope. This robot can rescue trapped body from the bore well in a minimum amount of time. A lot of other hassles will also be avoided by this alternative technique.

Abstract               : India which sees itself as a promising super power and an economic hub, is still trapped in the clutches of various patriarchal evils like molestations, dowry, crime against women, worst among all is Rape. The atrocities against the women can be now brought to an end with the help of a device called Pro-Woman. This paper explains the basic idea which is to flash a warning giving an instant location of the distressed victim to the police so that the incident could be prevented and the culprit apprehended. This would help reduce crime against women. This paper also summarizes other significant works in this field and hence forth discussed Pro-Woman device in a greater detail.

The device, named as “Pro-Woman” is a security system specially designed for women in distress. It is a simple and easy to carry device with magnanimous functionality. The basic approach is to intimidate instant location and a distress message to the cops and registered number, so that unfortunate incidents would be averted and to provide real time evidence for swift action against the perpetrators of crime against women. Currently the work is under process to miniaturize it so that it could be embedded in jewelries, mobile phones etc. in order to make it a versatile instrument for masses. It can play a major role in the upcoming projects such as CCTNS (crime and criminal tracking network and system) in which all the police records all over India are digitized and all the police station throughout the country will be integrated.

Abstract               : The project presents how to lower the communication barrier between the mute communities with the general public. It is based on the need of developing an electronic device that can translate gesture command to audio and textual format in order to make the communication. A Wireless data gloves is used which is normal cloth driving gloves fitted with flex  sensors along the length of each finger and the thumb. Mute people can use the gloves to perform hand gesture and it will be converted into speech so that normal people can understand their expression. A gesture in a sign language is a particular movement of the hands with a specific shape made out of them. A sign language usually provides sign for whole words. In this project Flex Sensor Plays the major role, Flex sensors are sensors that change in resistance depending on the amount of bend on the sensor. We are in process of developing a prototype using this process to reduce the communication gap between differentially able and normal people.

Abstract               : A Drowsy Driver Detection System has been developed, using a non-intrusive machine vision based concepts. The system uses a small camera that points directly towards the driver’s face and monitors the driver’s eyes in order to detect fatigue. In such a case when fatigue is detected, a warning signal is issued to alert the driver. This project describes how to find the eyes, and also how to determine if the eyes are open or closed. The system deals with using information obtained for the binary version of the image to find the edges of the face, which narrows the area of where the eyes may exist. Once the face area is found, the eyes are found by computing the horizontal averages in the area. Once the eyes are located, measuring the distances between the intensity changes in the eye area determine whether the eyes are open or closed. If the eyes are found closed for 5 consecutive frames, the system draws the conclusion that the driver is falling asleep and issues a warning signal and number of frames used for analysis can increased or decreased. Also yawing is detected and if the driver is excessively yawning then buzzer alerts the driver.

Abstract               : The aim of this research is to develop a device used to detect faults in the line and isolate the connected system or instrument connected to it. This device involves the use of microcontroller for detection and isolation of the system of instrument with proper use of programming. The instrument devised is economical and effective compared to other protective devices available in market. After the patent of the product a large scale production is also possible for consumer use. The design methodology involves the use of microcontroller in conjugation with the relay circuitry with display on a LCD screen. It is a totally new design in the market and it will be a substitute to ELCB’s, MCB’s and Relays in near future. The circuit devised can be used in conjugation with the medical instrument, industrial instrument and even in the household application. It finds a lot of applications in factories and industries where costly instruments are to be saved from faults.

The device thus developed is very economical and effective in the use of protection in household as well as industrial instrument protection. The added advantage of this circuit is that it shows the type of fault occurred on LCD and at the same time keeps the circuit in isolation until the fault is cleared.

Abstract               : A novel hands-free control system for an electric-powered wheelchair, which is based on EMG (Electromyography) signals recorded from any muscle activity. By using a simple device, continuous EMG signals are obtained and then translated into multi-directional control commands (forward, left, right, etc.) for an electric wheelchair. The system also allows a user to choose either control state or non-control state so that any non-intended muscle activity can be ignored during the non-control state.

Abstract               : In this project, a fully complex-valued radial basis function (FC-RBF) network with a fully complex-valued activation function has been studied, and its complex-valued gradient descent learning algorithm has been compared with the Real Valued Neural Network. The fully complex activation function of the studied network, satisfies all the properties needed for a complex-valued activation function and has Gaussian-like characteristics. Since the performance of the complex-RBF network depends on the number of neutrons and initiatialization of network parameters, we will study K-means clustering based neuron selection and center initialization scheme. First, we presented a study on convergence using complex XOR problem. The results indicate that the fully complex-valued network has better convergence, approximation and classification ability.

Abstract               : Acqua Drive is an innovative way to have FUN in water. It is a water sport, where the rider can use his palm to accelerate the jet drive attached to the surfboard. This prototype will be the first wireless gesture controlled surfboard.

Keeping the safety of the surfer (basically swimmers) in mind, we have come up with a new idea, of “Acqua Flotador”. One can compare it with the seat belts in cars, or the helmets we wear while riding. As soon as the surfer goes below a specified depth, a balloon will be inflated, thus bringing the surfer back to the water surface safely. This is made possible with the help of Teensy 3.2 which houses an ARM Cortex M4. The algorithm for controlling all actions is written in Arduino programming language.

Abstract               : According to the experts at the National Transportation Planning and Research Centre (NTPRC) the number of road accidents in India is three times higher than that prevailing in developed countries. Many times accidents take place due to traffic violation. Monitoring these traffic violations by human intervention over a wider area is too complicated due to the increasing population. The main motive behind this project is to reduce these reckless accidents and control of self-driven vehicles for which we propose a system that governs and controls the speed of the vehicle without any direct inconvenience to the driver.

In this advance traffic controller project there is two systems which act in master slave configuration. Master system will be at traffic light and slave will be deployed in the vehicles .Master system will monitor traffic light as red light turned on master system will send “stop your car” message through ZigBee to slave system .Slave system will receive through its ZigBee and decode this message and with the help of relay, motor of the vehicle will be turned off .As soon as green light turned on master will allow vehicles to go. Road will be divided in three parts near traffic light which is used for efficiently controlling the vehicles at traffic signal. At signal road will be divided into lanes like lane 1, lane 2, etc. Using other ZigBee module every vehicle will be provided with their lane number in which lane that vehicle will be present. With the help of this the system will be focused to stop the vehicles of a particular lane.

In this way the project will help in controlling the traffic signal without inconvenience to the driver.
